Our Innovative Design & Building Collective

GREAT WORKS is an innovative design and building collective comprised of local artisans, our families and our friends. We specialize in creating unique and inspiring structures that blend functionality with artistic design, natural building materials, and a light footprint. Whether its a hempcrete house, cob outdoor kitchen, cedar and stone sauna, or a hemp-canvas yurt, our team is passionate about pushing the boundaries of traditional construction to deliver exceptional spaces that resonate with our clients' vision and values.
Our approach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, allowing us to offer a diverse range of shelter designs that can adapt to various needs and preferences. We take pride in our attention to detail and commitment to quality and local materials, ensuring that each structure we create is a testament to our dedication to supporting a healthy and thriving ecosystem, forest and its families.
The traditional design of the mongolian ger demonstrates the versatility and creativity that defines our work. We invite you to explore our projects here and then allow your imagination to expand. As creators, we love to assist people in creating their vision. We are inspired by the spirit of collaboration and have a teams of bioregional artists, foresters, woodcutters, sawmills, and carpenters across New England. In fact, the exploration of reciprocity between humans and the land has led our choices in building materials, designs, and teammates. Sustainable, small-scale forestry practices protect and create a thriving ecosystem for future generations and all its inhabitants. It is important to us that our business choices prioritizes taking good care of everyone and everything around us.
Our team includes visionary individuals from Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. We are thankful for the supportive mentors and helpers along the way; but most especially Steve Reed of Grandma Shirley's Yurts in Vermont, and Ken Gagnon of Two Girls Yurts in New Hampshire. We are grateful for the support of each other and of our clients, our local school, land trusts, our communities, codes officers and planning boards. Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have serious housing concerns but we also have amazing neighbors. Having safe, affordable, and healthy homes sets a foundation for community members to thrive. Our mission is to have thriving individuals, thriving families. thriving communities, and a thriving enviroment to live in.
